Postdoctoral positions are immediately available in the laboratories of Dr. Elizabeth Villa and Dr. Joe Pogliano in the Department of Biology at the University of California San Diego. We are seeking highly-motivated, energetic and passionate individuals to join our collaborative team to study Pseudomonasphage that replicate using a nucleus-like structure. The project focuses on using a combination of cryo-electron microscopy, fluorescence microscopy, CRISPR/Cas gene editing tools, proteomics, and RNA seq to identify and study the structure and function of every essential protein encoded by these unique phage. The “phage nucleus” is a new field of biology that is incredibly rich with a high potential for making novel discoveries. The applicant should have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent title in biology and have a demonstrated record of productivity.

Please submit a cover letter describing research experience and interests, a CV, and the name of three references by email to Dr. Joe Pogliano (jpogliano@ucsd.edu)and Dr. Elizabeth Villa (evilla@ucsd.edu).  Evaluation will begin immediately and will continue until the positions are filled. UCSD is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.
